ZARNet takes an initiative in utiliiising its strategic role in driving e-government and aims to enhance access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens. More important, it aims to help strengthen the government’s drive toward effective governance and increased transparency to better manage Zimbabwe’s political, social and economic resources for development.

Enthusiastic, indefatigable and possessing a predatory instinct and zeal for results is the shortest way to describe ZARNet when it comes to driving e-government.

E-government is the use of information technology to enhance free movement of information to overcome the physical bounds of traditional paper and physical based systems. This involves the use of technology to enhance the access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens, business partners, regional and national partners, international and authorized partners and employees.

It is pertinent to note that e-government has become the most reliable system in compiling government activities and operations and involves automation or computerization of existing paper-based procedures that prompts new and unique leadership styles, new and unique ways of debating and deciding strategies, new and unique ways of transacting business, new and unique ways of listening to citizens and communities, and new and unique ways of organizing and delivering information.

French Philosopher, Henri Bergson says, “To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” ZARNet says, “With ICTs, it is possible to enhance systems in government,“and encourages ministries and government departments to built capacity for transformation in their different operations through internet connectivity and website design and development.
